Mission

Sons of Sound provides creative and business resources to uniquely talented professional instrumentalists and composers. A catalog of recordings is assembled through the development of these artists over multiple projects. Support of music education is a priority.

History

Sons of Sound was founded in 1997 to provide creative and business assistance to independent professional artists, many of whom support music education through The Commission Project, a nonprofit organization based in Rochester, New York. Many of the label artists perform live, conduct master classes, or visit schools regularly during the academic year as part of a formal residency, receiving little or no compensation for their efforts. The company was created to help these artists with their careers as writers, performers, and recording artists. Sons of Sound is now a full-service music production company that incorporates a record label, a music publishing division, and recording facilities.

Divisions

Sons of Sound Productions Ltd is the parent company that brings together all of the resources of the organization and directs them for the benefit of our artists and the completion of their projects. The company is represented at IAJE and NARAS.

The record company, Sons of Sound Recorded Music, is an independent label with international distribution through Big Daddy Music. The company has a strategic alliance with the OmniTone Inc. coalition of independent labels, and is a member of the Association for Independent Music (AFIM).

Sons of Sound Music Publishing (ASCAP), provides a home for composers by promoting their original works and maintaining a catalog of original compositions in many styles available for use in recordings, live performances, soundtracks, and other applications.

Sons of Sound Productions also operates Radio King Studios, state-of-the-art digital multi-track facilities and rehearsal studios used exclusively for the benefit of our artists.
